This transition took place during the 6th meeting of the group, chaired by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation (MHESI) and previously co-chaired by Germany. By taking on the co-chair position, UNESCO reinforces its commitment to supporting Uzbekistan's education reform efforts, with a focus on quality, inclusivity, and sustainability.

In her remarks, Sara Noshadi, UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan acknowledged the contributions of Germany, whose leadership over the past years laid a solid foundation for future progress. She emphasized that UNESCO鈥檚 role is to continue building on the momentum already established by partners. 鈥淲e are taking over this task, being aware of the responsibility and grateful for the trust in UNSECO, and ensuring that every action supports both national and global education goals,鈥 she said.

Sara Noshadi also highlighted the importance of coordination in achieving effective and lasting reform. 鈥淓ffective coordination is crucial for making reforms work. This platform allows us to bring our efforts together, use resources efficiently by prioritizing and avoiding overlaps, and ensure a unified approach. By collaborating, we can avoid overlap, fill gaps, and accelerate progress in improving education and training,鈥 she noted.

Looking ahead to 2025, UNESCO is committed to continuing the work already underway while also enhancing discussions within specialized sub-working groups. These sub-working groups which include dual education, quality assurance, and teacher training, have proven to be invaluable in exploring key reform areas in greater depth. By delving into these topics, the sub-working groups provide crucial insights that help strengthen the collective efforts of all stakeholders, further advancing the TVET agenda in Uzbekistan.

The TVET Coordination Group, hosted by MHESI, remains a vital platform for stakeholders involved in vocational education and training in Uzbekistan. Meeting quarterly, the group serves as a space for collaboration, information sharing, and alignment of efforts across the sector, helping ensure that the country's TVET reforms remain on track and effective.
