UNESCO/E-JUST Webinar Series on Heritage Science and Africa: Session 1 on Ethnographic Museums and African Art (Online, Alexandria, 27 June 2020
UNESCO/E-JUST Webinar was held to provide the opportunity for reflecting the past, present, and future of the ethnography museums in Egypt by using the project on the ethnography museum development at Cairo University. The ethnography museums can play an important role not only in preserving cultural objects but also in contextualizing them with the participation of the community to tell more comprehensive stories. The Webinar attendees (36 men and 54 women) obtained an increased understanding of the concept of the ethnography museums and its evaluation, the museum mission development, and the principles of conservation of ethnographic collections while gaining knowledge about the rich African art and cross-cultural and cross-boundary interactions and exchange. UNESCO/E-JUST Webinar series provide equal capacity building and learning opportunity for men and women for heritage science for sustainable development. It worth mentioning this activity has been implemented within UNPDF/Egypt: Prosperity group as it contributes to targets of Egypt 2030 - Pillar 8 on Culture. Â
