Overall duties and responsibilities:
Within the delegated authority and under the direct supervision of head of Communication and Information and overall supervision of the Head of the Office, the Digital Media Associate will:
In particular, the successful candidate will:
Support the Office’s efforts to promote best practice in online digital safety and counter hate speech, especially among young people as well as journalists and media professionals, particularly the combatting of Technology Facilitated Gender-based Violence.
Contribute to UNESCO’s role to build competencies among women, youth and indigenous people for the advancement of digital skills and competencies which enable them to access accurate information relevant to their lives and provide them greater agency.
Support the consolidation of existing expertise and engagement with stakeholders to establish effective and evidence-based linkages between people’s online behavior, their use of the Internet as well as contributing the Organization’s Media and Information Literacy work.
Support the implementation of UNESCO initiative on building the capacities of multi-stakeholders on freedom of expression, digital inclusion, and AI.
Draft programme-related reports like concept notes, Terms of References for implementing partners and well as financial report.
Support to the unit in keeping the vendor’s profile updated.
Administrative support such as coordination with service providers and partners for the effective implementation of projects and activities including overseeing of all financial aspects to ensure vendors and partners receive timely payments upon project completion.
Participate in programme support team meetings.
Collaborate with admin and finance teams to address any related issues for the unit.
Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor and the head of the office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in information and communication technology or in relevant area e.g. development studies, school of arts and humanities, media studies, law or area related to management or social and human science.
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 4 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in government, non-government organization, private sector, universities of educational institutions, or other relevant programmes; experience with innovation and digital inclusion is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
LANGUAGES
Excellent written and spoken Nepalese.
Excellent written and spoken English.

Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, power point, photo shop, in-design etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
Other desired/mandatory required technical knowledge:
Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
