Video: Protect higher education from attack

Over the past five years, 14,000 attacks against schools, universities, students and staff have taken place across 34 countries. Higher education facilities, including Iraq’s iconic university of Mosul, have been particularly devastated and come under siege. The need to protect education in contexts of crisis and conflict has never been more urgent.
Today, only one per cent of eligible refugees have access to higher education.
As the only UN agency with a mandate in higher education, UNESCO encourages all countries to engage and take actions to protect education at all levels, and make the right to education a reality for all.
More than ever, UNESCO is committed to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 to ensure inclusive quality education and promote lifelong learning.
By protecting higher education, we can protect education at all levels and empower the next generation of learners to build stronger and better societies.
