Story

When cinema and young people reflect on the fate of the Ocean

At the UNESCO headquarters, three worlds came together: young people – from Middle and High Schools – cinema, and ocean.
The enthusiasm of the team behind the film "Les Gardiennes de la Planète" (Guardians of the Planet) and of the UNESCO Campus, led to the creation of an original Campus XL.
This day enabled 850 young people from all over the world to question, challenge, understand, exchange ideas and laugh with the women and men who devoted a whole day to them and an exclusive cinema preview.

It is rare that previews of major films are reserved for young people from priority educational areas (REP and REP+). Even more rare are opportunities to meet with the best scuba divers, whale experts, photographers specializing in the seas, film producers, actors...

Led by Sylvère-Henry Cissé, this Campus was an exceptional event in several ways: by the number of young people from the Greater Paris area (650 students), by the remote participation of schools around the world (200 students from 6 different countries: Algeria, Cameroon, Guyana, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Senegal), and by the involvement of 60 teachers who mobilized to give their students the opportunity to commit themselves to the ocean.

Everything is not lost, there are many things to change to protect the ocean, and it starts with you.

One thing is certain, the Paris, online and XL campuses continue to feed the curiosity, critical thinking and desire for change of new generations every month!

You can find upcoming events on the UNESCO Campus webpage.
