In Windhoek, the Director-General champions UNESCO鈥檚 cooperation with Namibia
On 6-7 June, 2013, Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO will pay an official visit to Namibia, at the invitation of His Excellency, Mr Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of the Republic of Namibia.
In the course of the visit, the Director-General is expected to meet with His Excellency, President Hifikepunye Pohamba, the Right Honourable Hage G. Geingob, Prime Minister of Namibia, the Honourable Theo-Ben Gurirab, Speaker of the National Assembly, as well as the Honourable Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Irina Bokova is also expected to hold a joint meeting with Ministers in policy areas linked to UNESCO鈥檚 fields of competency 鈥 including Honourable Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable John Mutorwa, Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry and acting Minister of Education, Honourable Jerry Ekandjo, Minister of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, Honourable Joel Kapanda, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Honourable Roselia Nghidinwa, Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Honourable Silvia Makgone, Deputy Minister of Education, Honourable Stanley Simataa, Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology, in his capacity as the Representative of Namibia on the UNESCO Executive Board.
During the visit, Irina Bokova will visit the Katatura Arts Centre, Penduka, as well as the Dawid Bezuidenhout High School, a UNESCO ASPnet School.
