Work-in-progress for the Early Grade Math Teachers’ Guide for Grade 2
From 12-14 September 2019, with STEPCam support the Primary Education Department (PED) of Ministry of Education and Sport (MoEYS) organized a technical meeting to review the Second draft of Math Grade 2 Teachers Guide Semester 1, at PTTC Siem Reap. Development of Early Grade Math for both Grade 1 and 2 is supported by UNESCO CapED. Forty three technical experts (19 female) from Primary Education Department, Department of Curriculum Development, PTTC Trainers, District Office for Education, outstanding Early Grade Math Teachers and I/NGOs came together to review the draft. In addition, PTTC trainers from 3 target provinces (Preah Vihea, Kratie and Stueng Treng) also participated in this workshop. Once finalized, the teacher guide for semester one will be piloted in 2 districts in Siem Reap province during academic year 2019-2020, through STEPCam. INSET for Early Grade Learning is an important reform agenda of MoEYS to improve the quality of learning and learning outcomes of children. Through CapED and STEPCam, MOEYS and UNESCO are working together to support the Teachers in Siem Reap, Odar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Steung Treng and Kraties in their efforts to improve early grade learning of their students.
