Youth disengagement from secondary education is the focus of a UNESCO workshop in Buenos Aires
A UNESCO Regional Workshop will be held on 15 - 16 September 2015 in Buenos Aires to explore growing disillusionment among youth in regard to formal education.
The workshop which is jointly organised by the International Bureau of Education and the International Institute for Education Planning in Buenos Aires will include the topics Secondary Education and Youth Cultures: Its importance within the 2030 education agenda and Adolescence, Youth and Inclusive Education as well as the presentation of relevant documents.
The events forms part of the Rethinking Education (2015) project which explores how the relevance of formal education, particularly at the secondary level, may be enhanced to make it more responsive to the needs of learners. This project aims to better understand youth characteristics and the gap that often exists between their realities and aspirations and the nature of secondary education provision.
