Youth gather at UNESCO as game-changers for education and sustainable development
Young men and women will meet to give their perspectives on the new sustainable development agenda at the 9th UNESCO 91麻豆国产精品自拍 - Young Global Citizens for a Sustainable Planet to be held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris from 26 to 28 October.
As part of the forum the UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Section and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) will organize a capacity-building session on Youth Contribution in Monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals on 28 October.
In particular youth will meet to discuss and decode Sustainable Development Target 4.7 which aims, among other things, to ensure by 2030 that: 鈥渁ll learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development including among others through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles.鈥
At the workshop facilitators will include Tariq Al Olaimy who is one of the 50 Okayama ESD Youth leaders, who attended the UNESCO World Conference in Nagoya, Japan in 2014.
In addition during the forum young people will man stands at a Marketplace offering a range of education publications and materials on topics including Education for All, Global Citizenship Education and Education for sustainable Development. .
Forum participants will also have the opportunity to exchange and network with partners via dedicated stands at the Marketplace. Parallel side events are also organized, including 鈥15 minutes of fame鈥 giving youth the chance to express their opinions.
The forum will bring together over 500 young women and men from all over the world to focus on issues related to climate change and the post-2015 Sustainable Development agenda to ensure that the voices of future generations remain front and centre of the new development agenda.
