UNESCO is the United Nations agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of education. We work across all levels from pre-primary to tertiary and non-formal education in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar considering it is a fundamental human right. Development initiatives and interventions are anchored on the UN Delivering as One platform, within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). In addition to supporting the development of the education sector analysis (ESA) and the Education Sector Development Plan (ESDP) our interventions are designed based on the national education sector priorities and other relevant frameworks.

UNESCO in Tanzania is responding to the global transforming education sector with a multifaceted approach that embraces innovation, inclusivity, sustainability, and adaptability. UNESCO in Tanzania promotes learner-centered approaches, fostering critical thinking and creativity, and integrating practical skills to meet the demands of a changing job market.
