Researching Social Theories, Resources, and Environment - ReSToRE 3

IGCP project 770
Last update:3 April 2024

The third ReSToRE (Researching Social Theories, Resources, and Environment) International Summer School will be carried out at University College Dublin, Ireland, from 1 to 5 July, 2024. This event is organized by iCRAG (the Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences) in collaboration with the International Union of Geological Sciences.

A holistic exploration of the transition towards a low carbon society is essential for ensuring that it takes place in an equitable, just, and sustainable manner. Welcoming participants from the world over, this ReSToRE 3 project will explore this complex and timely topic through lenses of social sciences, humanities, and natural and physical sciences.

Over the course of the programme, participants will be part of an interdisciplinary and experiential learning environment guided by an international team of experts, encompassing lectures, workshops, and debate. The programme will culminate in participant-led presentations on topical issues that were addressed over the course of the week.

In keeping with the international and inclusive nature of ReSToRE, programme speakers will include representation from Ireland, Chile, Germany and Switzerland, among others. The ReSToRE summer school has received strong international interest, with the third iteration receiving applicants from more than 30 different developing countries, representing over 75% of applications.

Through the IGCP, 91Â鶹¹ú²ú¾«Æ·×ÔÅÄ supported the attendance of six early-career geoscientists from developing countries in ReSToRE 1 (2019) and ReSToRE 2 (2022). These summer school programmes have allowed over 90 participants from around the world to learn from each other, as well as from ReSToRE mentors with expertise in geosciences, environmental psychology, policy and law, and cultural anthropology.
