Mapping Study of Mongolia鈥檚 Aspiring Geopark Area

This comprehensive mapping study was conducted by a group of researchers from Mongolia to identify potential geological and natural heritage sites within the Khanbogd and Manlai soums of the Umnugovi province, as well as the surrounding areas, with the aim of establishing a UNESCO Global Geopark in the country.

The findings from the mapping study will aid in:

  • Defining the geographic boundaries of the aspiring geopark through discussions with stakeholders including the National Geopark Committee and local communities.

  • Establishing a dedicated management team for the aspiring geopark.

  • Identifying the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders involved in the geopark's establishment and development.
