Safeguarding Our Heritage and Fostering Creativity

Culture plays a key role in enhancing and preserving our shared identities while enriching individuals with the power of creativity to thrive. Protecting and safeguarding the world’s cultural and natural heritage and supporting creativity and dynamic cultural sectors are fundamental to addressing the challenges of our time, from climate change to poverty, inequality, the digital divide and ever more complex emergencies and conflicts.

UNESCO is convinced that no development can be sustainable without a strong culture component, and only with a human-centred approach to development based on mutual respect and open dialogue among cultures can lead to lasting peace.

Home to a rich collection of diverse cultural heritage and dynamic creative sectors, currently, Cambodia has three World Heritage Sites:

Our Programmes

UNESCO works with the Royal Government of Cambodia and partners to preserve cultural heritage - sites, objects and intangible and underwater heritage, support Smart Cities Roadmap development, and promote the creative and cultural industries for sustainable development.
