OER in action

UNESCO leverages OER to support activities related to strengthen universal access to information. Actions include the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers Harnessing OER Project and the Guidelines on the Inclusion of Learners with Disabilities in Open and Distance Learning.

To reduce the digital divide and promote digital competencies, the project supports teacher/instructor training for  digital competency building in initial and in-service teacher education and developing contextualized OER-based training materials.

provides an overview for governments, institutions, instructors and quality assurance and recognition bodies on developing open and distance learning platforms and processes, to incorporate the needs of all learners. They focus open solutions, including OER.

OER are part of ‘Open Solutions’, alongside Free and Open Source software (FOSS), Open Access (OA), Open Data (OD), and crowdsourcing platforms.
