Mirna Abou Zeid is a professor of Journalism and Media studies and Dean of the Jordan Media Institute, a leading center of excellence in media education, dedicated to raise journalism standards in Jordan and the region.
Her teaching and research focus on the intersection of media, journalism, and society, equipping students with the critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the contemporary media landscape
Committed to innovation, Dr. Abou Zeid has been instrumental in developing cutting-edge curricula and study programs that embrace modern teaching methodologies and emerging technologies, that she implemented in Lebanon and Jordan.
Beyond academia, Dr. Abou Zeid carries out media consultancy and training, empowering social stakeholders with enhanced media and communication competencies. Her work has extended to regional and international organizations, including the UNDP Lebanon, MENAHRA, and UNESCO Beirut, where she has shared her expertise to foster positive change.

H.E. Prof. Azmi Mahmoud Mahafzah, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Jordan
Dr. Azmi Mahafzah is a professor of microbiology and immunology at the University of Jordan School of Medicine and a consultant clinical pathologist at the Jordan University Hospital. He earned his MD degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in 1977 and his PhD degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the American University of Beirut School of Medicine in 1984. In 1988, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in virology from Yale University.
Dr. Mahafzah worked as a teaching staff member in the School of Medicine at the University of Jordan for more than 35 years. During that period, he assumed many administrative posts, including chairman of the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine, director of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Jordan University Hospital, and Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine, before being appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jordan from October 2010 to August 2013. On September 1st, 2013 Dr. Mahafzah was appointed Vice President for Scientific Faculties of the University of Jordan, and on April 19, 2016, he was appointed President of the University of Jordan.
On June 14, 2018, Dr. Mahafzah was appointed Minister of Education and on October 11, 2018, he was reappointed as Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research until November 1, 2018, where he resigned to rejoin the University of Jordan as a professor of microbiology and immunology. In September 2019 he was appointed Chairman of the Higher Council of the National Center for Curriculum Development, a post he assumed until April 26, 2023. On Oct. 27, 2022, he was appointed Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dr. Mahafzah is a member of several national and international professional bodies. Throughout his career, Dr. Mahafzah published more than seventy scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.

H E. Ziad Makary, Minister of Information, Lebanon
Ziad Theodore Makary, born in Zgharta 1968, holds a postgraduate degree in architecture from the University of Balamand – the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), and from the Paris-Belleville University of Architecture (ENSAPB) – specializing in Islamic and Mediterranean architecture. He is an architect specializing in Lebanese architecture and cultural heritage preservation and restoration, and currently a full-time professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture at the Lebanese University.

Ziad Makary is the founder and CEO of ARCA – Architecture & Design, a pioneer in architecture and design, which has implemented several projects in Lebanon, Qatar, Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Nigeria and Mozambique. He also has many research papers aimed at preserving historical and archaeological sites, including a study he conducted by UNESCO on the urban organization of the city of Tripoli and El Mina (1995), and a comprehensive study for the preservation of the archaeological valley of Qadisha. He has a special passion for Lebanese architecture as he is always working on renovating and rehabilitating old Lebanese homes.

He is active in many local and national youth initiatives.

Paulo Pimenta is a journalist and agricultural technician, being the most voted Member of the Parliament of the Brazilian Labour Party (PT) in the Rio Grande do Sul State for four consecutive terms. He began his career in the student movement and served as a counselor in his hometown, Santa Maria, as well as the city’s vice-mayor.

He was first elected as a federal congressman in 2002. Since then, he has been re-elected five times. During Dilma Rousseff’s government, he chaired the Joint Budget Committee, the most important in the National Congress. Also as a congressman, Pimenta served as the leader of the PT bench in the Chamber in 2018 and 2019, and played a key role as President or rapporteur for significant national bills. In a congressional survey, Pimenta received the highest score among parliamentarians for his effective use of social media to communicate his mandate to Brazilian society.

Pimenta was appointed the Minister of Social Communication in January 2023, the beginning of Lula’s third term. Between May and September 2024, he was appointed by president Lula as the Minister for the Extraordinary Ministry for the Reconstruction of the Rio Grande do Sul State, after the state suffered one of the biggest floods in the Brazilian history, affecting more than 75% of its population. Under this role, he led the national efforts to overcome the disaster’s challenges ahead of the reconstructions in the State. In September Pimenta retook the office as Chief Minister of the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Brazilian Presidency.
