The 2022-2024 Jury members

In order to implement the resolution instituting the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize, UNESCO called on international public figures who are reputed for their action on behalf of peace in the fields in which they have pursued their careers. Among them are statesmen, scholars, jurists, diplomats and human rights activists who have distinguished themselves through their attachment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter and the Constitution of UNESCO and who have agreed to give the Prize the benefit of their knowledge and prestige.
Dr. Denis Mukwege (D.R.C.)
President of the 2022 Jury Gynecologist

Dr. Mukwege is known for treating survivors of sexual violence and women with severe gynecological problems at the Panzi Hospital, which he founded in 1999.

Michel Camdessus (France)
Senior Public Official

Mr. Camdessus is known for being the Director of the French Treasury, Governor of the Banque de France and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.

Dr. Hayat Sindi (Saudi Arabia)
Biotechnologist

Dr. Sindi holds nine patents for a machine that combines the effects of light and ultra-sound for use in biotechnology in early detection of breast cancer.

Santiago Gamboa Samper (Colombia)
Writer, journalist and diplomat

Mr. Gamboa published many novels, worked at Radio France Internationale (RFI) and served as a diplomat for the Colombian government.

Thomas Pesquet (France)
Astronaut

A Goodwill Ambassador of FAO, Mr. Pesquet known for his 2 impressive European records: most cumulative time spent in space and most time spent spacewalking.

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize 2022 Jury meeting photos
