The Multi-Stakeholder Coalition

The global Multi-Stakeholder Coalition is integrated by Member States institutions, international and regional organizations, funding agencies, ODAs, international and local NGOs, private sector, academia and civil society.

The Multi-stakeholder Coalition takes collective and concrete action to address gender disparities in water- related issues, in line with the five agreed gamechangers of the Water Action Agenda (#SDGAction50387), which were jointly stipulated in the :

Including gender-equality principles in funding, which promote women 虂s leadership, protect their water rights and no longer rely on unpaid work of women and girls for securing and managing water;

  • Narrowing the persisting gap between policy and practice in the water domain to ensure gender-equality policies and necessary mechanisms are in place for implementation;

  • Fostering women鈥檚 leadership for meaningful participation through education and capacity development;

  • Countering social norms and stereotypes that may have negative effects on water access, use and inclusive decision-making;

  • Implementing the collection, analysis and use of sex-disaggregated water data to inform water policies through the application of appropriate gender-responsive indicators.

Coalition Members actively disseminate the Initiative鈥檚 findings and progress by participating in key international and regional events.

Roadmap of the Multi-stakeholder Coalition 虂s initiative

The Call for Action initiative supported by the Multi-stakeholder Coalition will end with the completion of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with key intermediate milestone to assess progress.

UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme
