Observatory of the social and ethical impact of artificial intelligence (OdiseIA)

Overview of the organization
OdiseIA is a non-profit, independent association that provides a platform for debate and action around the ethical use of AI. It was founded in November 2019 by 10 individual professionals who collectively believed in the need for an ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence. In 2024, OdiseIA has over 150 members (individual experts, companies, universities, institutions) and has become an international reference for ethical AI.
Project and activity overview
In 2024, OdiseIA launched a new project with support from Google.org, the charity organization of Google, as part of Google.org's Digital Futures Project, a $20 million fund dedicated to supporting researchers, facilitating discussions, and encouraging the development of responsible AI policy solutions. OdiseIA's focus is on AI governance and the future of work for vulnerable groups. OdiseIA, in collaboration with Deloitte, is developing a ethical AI certification for the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in the form of a voluntary trust seal to ensure that the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms by companies and public bodies is ethical, robust and reliable. This project includes the execution of an AI regulatory sandbox in Spain to gain practical experience with the European AI Act before its entry into force in 2026. The work involves monitoring and evaluating companies, and creating detailed guides based on the sandbox feedback. OdiseIA also supports ethical impact assessments of AI in a variety of sectors such as technology, telecom, manufacturing, healthcare and defence.
