Overview of the organization
ICT Watch is a civil society organization that has initiated many digital literacy initiatives and movements in Indonesia since its founding in 2002. To carry out its program, ICT Watch has collaborated with multiple stakeholders (government, civil society, private sector, academia, and the technical community). ICT Watch vision: The creation of a digital ecosystem human-centric through Internet-based governance inclusivity and fulfilment of rights freedom of expression society, by utilizing information and communication technology effectively wise and ethical.. " ICT Watch Mission: - Building community involvement to increase digital literacy and new technological innovation. (CYBER WELLNESS) - Encourage the fulfilment of people's digital rights, especially children's and women's safety. (DIGITAL RIGHTS) - Strengthening the meaningful participation of diverse stakeholders in Internet governance. (INTERNET GOVERNANCE)
Project and activity overview
ICT Watch Indonesia, a civil society organisation in Indonesia, has proactively engaged with other stakeholders on several occasions or opportunities to develop AI governance. We followed and contributed to the draft recommendation policy paper of the Policy Network on Artificial Intelligence, High-Level Advisory Board of the Internet Governance Forum (https://www.intgovforum.org/en/pnai). Domestically, ICT Watch proactively involved and submitted the recommendation for the Circular Letter of the Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information Technology concerning Artificial Intelligence Ethics (https://voi.id/en/technology/341605). At the 2024 WSIS Forum, ICT Watch joined as one of the panellists in session #199 with the topic "Al and Global Challenges: Ethical Development and Responsible Deployment" (https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/forum/2024/Agenda/Session/199). The position of ICT Watch about AI is based on several focus group discussions (FGD) that we held in November 2023, with not less than 380 participants from the Indonesian multistakeholder, focused on taking the theme: 1). AI for Youth Development, 2). AI for Child Online Protection, 3). AI for Society Engagement, and 4). AI for Women Empowerment.
