PIC-ASEFA (Advanced Space Exploration for Females in Africa) is an initiative designed to empower African girls and women in artificial intelligence, space exploration, and robotics. Spearheaded by Nigeria Space Agency - National Space Research and Development Agency(NASRDA), PIC-ASEFA addresses the gender gap in AI and space sciences, fostering inclusivity and equipping young females with critical skills for the future. The initiative aligns with global gender equality efforts by ensuring African women actively participate in STEM fields, contributing to technological advancements and economic growth.

PIC-ASEFA has expanded its reach to 12 African countries, where it has empowered thousands of girls through AI and robotics education, mentorship, and competitions. By increasing female participation in AI and space sciences, the program helps bridge the gender divide, combat unemployment, and prepare young women for careers in emerging technologies.

Key activities include AI and robotics training, providing hands-on experience in machine learning and space robotics. Outreach programs engage schools across Africa, introducing students to AI applications in space exploration. Competitions and hackathons allow participants to showcase their skills, with winners advancing to global events. Mentorship and networking initiatives connect young women with industry leaders, while research and development efforts encourage AI-driven innovations in satellite technology and Earth observation. Educational tours to NASRDA¡¯s Space Museum and AI research labs further inspire participants.

By addressing limited access to AI education and the underrepresentation of women in space sciences, PIC-ASEFA is shaping a new generation of African women in STEM. Through education and innovation, the initiative is fostering diversity in AI research and space exploration, positioning Africa as an emerging leader in global technological advancements.
