Event
Consultation for the 2024 Pacific report on technology in education (closed meeting)
Academics from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific will be invited by the GEM Report and OCIES to share their research
and examples of good practices on the use of technology in education in the Pacific. The discussion will be centered around
three questions:
- What is the contribution that technology in education can make to education systems in the Pacific, which according to the Pacific Regional Education Framework are aiming to improve: (i) quality and relevance (ii) learning pathways (iii) student outcomes and wellbeing and (iv) the teaching profession?
- What are the key lessons emerging from Australia's and New Zealand's own experiences with the application of technology in education and how can they be used to steer Pacific Island states towards or away from particular approaches?
- What are the key bottlenecks to avoid so that Pacific Island states can maximize any potential that technology has to offer to their education systems - and how can they be resolved?
The seminar and consultation will inform the development of the 2024 Pacific Report on technology in education which is being prepared with the Commonwealth for Learning and is due for launch during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Apia, Samoa on 21-26 October 2024. The regional report builds on commissioned research from ACER and Catalpa and builds on the Pacific Regional Education Framework (PacREF).
This is a closed meeting by invitation only.
