Globe – Free Access to Educational Platforms


Globe Telecom, Inc., commonly shortened as Globe, is a major provider of telecommunications services in the Philippines. The company operates the largest mobile network in the Philippines and one of the largest fixed-line and broadband networks. As of December 2022, Globes total mobile subscriber base reached 87.9 million. It is also the countrys largest telecommunications company in terms of market capitalization. Globe is quite committed to Education, aiming to create an empowered space of learning at home and in school. In their education section it is possible to find a number of different initiatives and projects.

To help teachers and students keep up with the demands of distance learning, Globe extended its free data access to the Globe eLibrary and other essential learning platforms of the government until 2022.

his initiative aimed to support students and educators by offering free internet access to essential educational websites such as DepEd Commons, CHED (Commission on Higher Education), and TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority). The objective was to enhance opportunities for self-learning and ensure continuity in education despite the limitations of remote learning environments. By removing data charges for accessing these platforms, Globe facilitated uninterrupted access to educational content, thereby supporting the Philippine education systems shift towards digital learning.

DepEd Commons contains online review materials and Open Educational Resources authored by public school teachers who are subject matter experts. Teachers can retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute the content by blending it with a learning management system to deliver a distance learning modality.
