Belize's cultural and creative industries (CCIs) are brimming with untapped potential. This potential comes up against global challenges as well as more local ones, such as the level of informality and the lack of robust regulatory frameworks for CCIs. To harness the cross-cutting contribution of culture to sustainable development, Belize wishes to work towards the development of its CCIs in a structured way and strengthen its institutional capacities in policy elaboration and monitoring.

The Institute of Creative Arts of Belize is receiving support from UNESCO for the elaboration of a national strategy for the development of cultural and creative industries. The aim of this strategy will be to provide a framework for action and measures specifically dedicated to effectively protect and promote the cultural and creative industries.
