20 journalists from Urgench trained in data journalism
A training course on data-journalism which was attended by 20 representatives of local media was held in Urgench (Khorezm region).
The training, which took place from 6 to 8 November 2019, was organized by the UNESCO Office in Tashkent and the the Modern Journalism Development Centre.
During the intensive three-day training, the journalists studied the tools of working with data, learned how to collect, cleanse and analyze data for further use in journalistic materials.
The training was conducted within the framework of the project "Enhancing the Capacity of Uzbek Media to Serve the Public Interest - Phase 2", financed by the Government of Great Britain.
It is worth noting that data-journalism has emerged as a new field of journalism, thanks to the huge amount of digital information and software that is available today, which translates complex and boring tables into understandable visualized forms.

I believe that this is a new, higher level of journalism. I will try to use all the knowledge gained in my work".
This training was the fourth in the chain of cascade trainings on data-journalism. The next training sessions are in Karshi, Bukhara, Samarkand and Jizzakh. As a result of the trainings in 4 cities, about 70 local journalists and bloggers were trained in data-journalism methods.
