6th Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals

The STI Forum 2021 will be organized by the UN Interagency Task Team (UN-IATT) in which UNESCO plays an active role, and the 10-Member Group of high-level representatives appointed by the UN Secretary-General. The theme for the STI Forum 2021 is: "Science, technology and innovation for a sustainable and resilient COVID19 recovery and effective pathways of inclusive action towards the Sustainable Development Goals". The forum is composed of seven official sessions, four special events, and a number of side events, including three side events co-organized by UNESCO and UN-IATT partners, see the program .

High-Level Side Event on STI for SDGs Roadmaps, 3 May 2021

UNESCO will co-organize the High-Level Side Event on STI for SDGs Roadmaps, on 3 May, 8:00-9:30 am EST, together with UN-DESA, FAO, UNIDO, and EU-JRC, on behalf of UN-IATT Work Stream on STI for SDG Roadmaps. This side event will present results achieved as part of the Global Programme and by the pilot countries, which will feed the discussion on scaling up and reaching out to more countries and stakeholders. The event will call for organizations, countries, the private sector, and donors to actively engage in the expansion of the Global Pilot programme, as well as in the promotion of the initiative. Side Event on Capacity Building in STI for SDGs, 4 May 2021

UNESCO and UNCTAD are organizing a Side Event on Capacity Building in STI for SDGs, on 4 May at 8:00-9:00 am EST, on behalf of the UN-IATT workstream which includes also UNU-Merit, UNIDO, UNDESA, WIPO, UNECE, UNESCWA, UNECLAC among others. The side event will present the joint UN training activities, achievements, and future plans. It will also be an occasion to seek new partnerships and to hear the views of development partners and government officials on future work to expand the pilot training sessions. Side Event on Gender and STI, 5 May 2021

A side event is being organized by UN-IATT workstream on Gender and STI, led by UNESCO and WIPO on "Gender Equality in Science, Technology and Innovation: Towards an Inclusive STI Ecosystem", which will be held on 5 May, 8:00-9:00 am EST. This event will highlight selected national experiences/initiatives from different regions in support of the equal participation of women in STI, and inspiring others to forge enabling and inclusive STI environments to retain female talents.
