Project
Acción Sostenible

Realising there weren’t any student organisations focusing on sustainable development, Miguel Cheng, Willy Mak, Andrea Cenzano, Maria Fe De Las Rosas, Maiza Pastor, Valeria Vidal, Mariana Salinas, Ivanovva Navarro and Romina Cortez decided to launch Acción Sostenible (Sustainable Action) at the Universidad del Pacifico in Lima.
Placing sustainability at the heart of the student community
To promote sustainability within the university and involve students in key decisions, Acción Sostenible develops projects and activities to build knowledge about the environment, natural resources and fighting climate change. Between 2017 and 2019, the organisation brought together more than 100 students to collect over half a ton of waste from beaches. It has also organised 4 editions of Akapacha Fest, an eco-festival promoting sustainable behaviours, as well as participating in events like Run for the Oceans, Earth Hour and Fridays For The Future.
To develop these sustainable education activities in other universities, Acción Sostenible is looking for funding.
