Call for Communication : Media Development and Freedom of Expression: the Impact of COVID-19 pandemic in West and Central Africa

Within the framework of the promotion of media development, freedom of expression and safety of journalists, UNESCO plans to mobilize experts, actors, professionals, civil society organizations and authorities in charge of the sector to reflect on the impact of COVID 19 on the media in West and Central Africa, in order to draw lessons and proposals for future action.
To this end, UNESCO's Regional Offices for West and Central Africa are organizing, as part of the the COVID-19 Laboratories initiative, a consultation scheduled for July 29th and 30th, 2020 and is launching a CALL FOR COMMUNICATION on the following themes: economic viability and resilience of the media (public, private and community); content production and gender equality in the media; freedom of expression and safety of journalists; use of ICTs and continuity of services.
The title and summary of the presentations or COMMUNICATION projects should be e-mailed to l.ewane-epee@unesco.org, no later than July 22nd, 2020. Applicants are invited to specify the chosen theme.
Those whose projects are selected will be contacted for confirmation no later than July 27th, 2020.
