Celebrating the biocultural diversity of Latin America and the Caribbean

The Permanent Delegations of the Latin American and Caribbean Member States to UNESCO will celebrate the rich biocultural diversity of the region during Latin America and the Caribbean Week 2025, taking place at UNESCO HQ from 2 to 6 June.
Within the framework of the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, Latin America and the Caribbean Week 2025 provides a vital platform for advancing a more holistic approach that recognizes the interdependence between culture and nature, promoting policies and mechanisms for the safeguarding of biocultural diversity, and contributing to the achievement of global sustainable development.
Registration
This event provides an opportunity to share how the communities of Latin America and the Caribbean have historically acted as custodians and defenders of nature for centuries. The region highlights the ancestral knowledge of communities that have shaped cultural practices deeply linked with their natural environment.
The event will offer a space for reflection and dialogue on the mutually reinforcing relationship between culture and nature, through diverse artistic expressions: art exhibitions, music, dance, and gastronomy tastings.
