Chile: International Arts Education Week 2021

Background

During the 36th session of UNESCO's General Conference in 2011, it was proclaimed that every year during the 4th week of May, International Arts Education Week would take place.

Convinced that creativity and the arts, and their learning, contribute to building prosperous and peaceful societies, UNESCO encourages its Member States to support arts education, in and out of school. Arts education is the key to shaping generations capable of reinventing the world they have inherited. It supports the vitality of cultural identities by emphasizing their links with other cultures, thus contributing to the construction of a shared heritage. It helps to form tolerant and dynamic citizens for our globalised world.
