Underwater Cultural Heritage in the South Caribbean of Costa Rica

This exhibition is the result of a process led by UNESCO with the youth of the South Caribbean through the CCBEM, which in recent years has undertaken initiatives for the protection of the marine environment and cultural assets submerged under the waters. UNESCO called on numerous partners to also contribute to the realization of this project, including the Embassy of Spain, the United Nations Fund for Populations (UNFPA), the Educational and Cultural Coordination of the Central American Integration System (CECC/SICA), the National Museum of Costa Rica and the University of Costa Rica.

The project has been conceived as a "living exhibition", since it is nourished not only by historical assets and posters with information on underwater cultural heritage but also seeks to incorporate the very experience of the people of the community in their relationship with the legacy culture to which these artifacts are associated.
