The Director-General in Berlin to Champion the Power of Sport
On 28-29 May, 2013, the UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova will be in Berlin to open with H.E. Ms Angela Merkel, Federal Chancellor of Germany, the 5th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS V).
MINEPS V is organized by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, through the Federal Ministry of the Interior, together with UNESCO and the support of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education.
The Conference brings together the entire family of sport, with representatives from countries across the world, at the ministerial level, to set new directions for sport and physical education. High-level participants include H.E. Mr Lemke, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General, United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace, Sir Craven, President International Paralympic Committee, the Honorable Mr Henkel, Berlin Mayor, Ms Samadzic-Markovic from the Council of Europe, and H. E Mr Fuxa, President CIGEPS.
On this occasion, the UNESCO Director-General is expected to meet with H.E. Ms Angela Merkel, Federal Chancellor of Germany.
