About the webinar

This year’s webinar, set to take place from 14:00 to 15:30 CET, will focus on the theme mathematics and creativity in art and education. The webinar will delve into the dynamic intersection between mathematics, artistic expression, and educational innovation, highlighting how mathematical concepts ignite creativity across various disciplines.

Mathematics has long been a source of inspiration for artists, influencing everything from geometric patterns in classical architecture to fractal designs in digital art. Similarly, in education, mathematical thinking fosters problem-solving, critical reasoning, and creative exploration, shaping the way students engage with the world around them.

By bridging these disciplines, the webinar aims to explore how mathematical concepts inspire both artistic innovation and transformative educational practices. Experts, practitioners and artists will share insights into the ways mathematics can enhance creativity, making it a powerful tool for both artistic creation and engaging, forward-thinking education.

About the celebration

Since its launch by UNESCO in 2019, the International Day of Mathematics has been celebrated each year to shine a light on the pivotal role that mathematical sciences play in tackling some of our era’s most pressing challenges.

From addressing climate change and counteracting biodiversity loss to managing rising sea levels and forecasting global population trends alongside their corresponding food demands, mathematics is at the heart of it all.

Beyond these urgent concerns, mathematics is also a cornerstone of progress, underpinning efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and build a more sustainable future for all.
