Kazakhstan: Presentation of the World Media Trends Report

The launch of the 2017/2018 edition of the "World Trends in Freedom of Expression and Media Development" was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan during the III conference "Models of teaching international journalism for sustainable development" (MTIJ) organized by the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communications of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the support of the UNESCO Office in Almaty.

The presentation is part of the worldwide launch of the 2017/2018 edition of the World Trends in Freedom of Expression and Media Development Report. The World Trends Report offers a critical analysis of new trends in media freedom, pluralism, independence and the safety of journalists.

With a special focus on gender equality in the media, the report provides a global perspective that serves as an essential resource for UNESCO Member States, international organizations, civil society groups, academia and individuals seeking to understand the changing global media landscape.

The presentation of the report was also held at the on April 4, 2018 in Almaty in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In addition, the presentation and discussion of the report will be held at a seminar on Quality Journalism in Central Asia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic and the OSCE Office which will be held on 3 May 2018 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
