Background

The exhibition is based on travels and encounters with survivors of the genocide and their families in Poland, Czech Republic and Ukraine. In collaboration with the EVZ Foundation and UNESCO, UNESCO Artist for Peace Luigi Toscano portrays the survivors and their relatives, whose stories and memories are captured in larger-than-life photographs and interviews. This exhibition is intended to send a strong signal against discrimination of the marginalized group of Sinti and Roma and to raise awareness for the recognition and appreciation of their community and culture.
