New National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy for Uzbekistan (2022-2030)

UNESCO, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Government of Uzbekistan presented the new National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy of Uzbekistan (2022-2030) at a hybrid event held at Hilton Hotel Tashkent and on zoom, on 19 April 2022. The policy was developed as part of the IsDB-UNESCO project on Strengthening the inclusive Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) system in Uzbekistan. The new policy and other main achievements of the project were presented to national institutions.

The policy development process, coordinated by the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan, is the result of the joint UNESCO and IsDB cooperation to strengthen national STI systems and build robust, evidence-based and inclusive policies.

The Policy was developed using findings and results from previous project activities, notably the report on , available in , and , published as the 10th volume of UNESCO’s .

The event was attended by the Minister and Deputy Minister of Innovative Development, as well as more than 200 participants, including representatives of the Islamic Development Bank, UNESCO, the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, the Permanent Delegate of Uzbekistan to UNESCO, and high-level representatives of 25 ministries, Academy of Science and representatives of STI institutions in the country.

After this official presentation, UNESCO will now officially provide the STI policy document to the Ministry of Innovative Development, to be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval and adoption by decree.
