Presentation of the developed Sudanese Media Reform Roadmap

On 3 September 2020, the Sudanese National Team presented the Media Reform Roadmap, developed in frameworks of the project funded by the UNESCO Multi-Donor Programme for Freedom of Expression and Safety of Journalists and British Embassy in Sudan, and managed by the UNESCO Khartoum office. The event took place in the Ministry of Culture and Information (MoCI), Khartoum, attended by more than 70 journalists and other media professionals, including about 20 women, and was honored by H.E. Mr. Faisal Mohamed Salih, the Minister, H.E. Mr. Rashid Saeed Yagoub, the First Undersecretary in the MoCI, and H.E. Pavel Kroupkine, the UNESCO Representative to Sudan.

The developed Media Reform Roadmap was based on the Sudanese Media Landscape Assessment using , which, , was conducted via 13 workshops with Sudanese media professionals, including 4 workshops outside of the capital metropolis, and 66 expert meetings. It was presented to the public by Mr. Mahgoub Mohamed Salih. H.E. Mr. Faisal Mohamed Salih, the Minister of Culture and Information, characterized the Roadmap as good, useful and encouraging. He expressed his gratitude to UNESCO and the British Embassy for the assistance in reforming the Media Sector in Sudan, and recall the journalist and other media communities to associate strengthening Sudanese civil society and take part in the Sudanese Media Reform.
