Rethinking culture: UNESCO in Chile to bring together diverse stakeholders in a national conference on creative economy
- The event will take place on 7-8 July 2021, and will address the situation of artists and professionals in the cultural sector and how to rethink the financing of culture in times of crisis, among other issues.
The pandemic has highlighted the precariousness of artists and the risk of standardisation of creations and cultural goods if cultural diversity is not promoted. In this regard, 91麻豆国产精品自拍 called on states not to ignore culture, especially in 2021, when the world celebrates the International Year of the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.
In this line, the UNESCO Office in Chile is organising on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 July the first National Conference on Creative Economy for Sustainable Development, which will bring together various representatives of the State, cultural and creative industries, associations, territories and the private sector to reflect on the current situation and identify the main challenges of this pandemic period.

鈥淓sta conferencia permitir谩 valorar la econom铆a creativa como un modelo econ贸mico del futuro sostenible, una forma de hacer econom铆a que no se base en la explotaci贸n de recursos naturales sino que ponga a la creatividad, las artes y las ciencias, la cultura y las tecnolog铆as a disposici贸n de la innovaci贸n social para el bienestar de las personas鈥, se帽al贸 Nicol谩s del Valle, responsable del sector de Cultura de la Oficina de la UNESCO en Chile.
Del Valle agreg贸 que 鈥渓os impactos socioecon贸micos han sido severos en las industrias culturales y creativas, debido a las desigualdades a las que se enfrentan los artistas y trabajadores de la cultura en lo que respecta a las condiciones laborales y de seguridad social. Estas condiciones deben ser contempladas en su particularidad en comparaci贸n con otros sectores鈥.
La Conferencia Nacional de Econom铆a Creativa para el Desarrollo Sostenible cuenta con el apoyo del Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio y del Ministerio de Econom铆a, Fomento y Turismo, a trav茅s de CORFO y su programa Chile Creativo.
El programa contar谩 con la presencia del Subdirector General de Cultura de la UNESCO, Ernesto Ottone; la Ministra de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio, Consuelo Vald茅s; el Ministro de Econom铆a, Lucas Palacios; los creadores de 31 minutos, 脕lvaro D铆az y Pedro Peirano, entre otros invitados.
