Strengthening Sustainable Management and Use of Water Resources in Latin America and the Caribbean and the CPLP Countries

South-South cooperation to strengthen the integrated management and sustainable use of water resources in the context of Latin American and Caribbean countries and the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).

This project intends to support the formation of technical, institutional, and legal capacities for the integrated management and sustainable use of water resources in Latin American and Caribbean countries and the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (). Furthermore, it intends to make them able to face the challenges of this field considering the global growth scenario, the impacts of climate change on water resources and other aspects of national, regional, or international relevance.

More specifically, this project has supported the following initiatives and activities within the scope of:

Its highlight is the 8th World Water Forum, held in Brasília in March 2018.

This South-South Cooperation project has supported many face-to-face, blended and distance education (Educação à distância - EAD) online courses, especially concerning:

  • teachers' training
  • elaborating and updating teaching materials
  • logistical needs for training activities
  • logistics
  • translation services
  • producing technical documents

Such actions have contributed to the enriching capacities in the fields of water resources management in Latin American and Caribbean countries and the CPLP countries.
