UNESCO Director-General condemns killing of journalist Muhammad Bachal Ghuniyo in Pakistan

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, has condemned the killing of journalist Muhammad Bachal Ghuniyo in the Ghotki district of Sindh province, Pakistan, on 26 August.

I condemn the killing of journalist Muhammad Bachal Ghuniyo and call for a thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. Journalists play a vital role in investigating crime and wrongdoing, and impunity for crimes against them must not prevail.

Muhammad Bachal Ghuniyo was a journalist for the TV channel Awaz TV. He was reportedly shot dead near his home by a group of unidentified gunmen.
