UNESCO Director-General condemns the killing of photojournalist Suresh Rajak in Nepal

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, has condemned the killing of photojournalist Suresh Rajak in the Tinkune area of Kathmandu, Nepal, on 28 March 2025.

I condemn the killing of Suresh Rajak. I call for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death and to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. Journalists must be able to exercise their duties with the necessary safety and protection.

Suresh Rajak was a photojournalist and worked as head of the camera and video division at Avenues Television. He was reportedly killed while covering a protest when the building he was reporting from was set on fire.
