UNESCO Director-General condemns killing of journalist Óscar Gómez Agudelo in Colombia
I condemn the killing of Óscar Gómez Agudelo. The protection of local journalists is essential for communities to continue receiving critical information for their daily lives. I call for a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice
Oscar Gomez Agudelo worked with several local radio stations, hosting a radio program called La Comunidad por la Comunidad. He was reportedly shot dead near the Rumba del Café radio station where he was heading to host his show.
