UNESCO Director-General condemns killing of journalist Steven Andrés Fajardo in Colombia

I condemn the killing of Steven Andrés Fajardo. The protection of local journalists is essential for communities to continue receiving critical information for their daily lives. I call for a thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Steven Andrés Fajardo was the director and presenter of the local radio station Triunfadora Stéréo. He was reportedly shot to death in the town of Doradal. In 2018, he had survived an attempt on his life.
