UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty announces a call for artisans from Kazakhstan

From 16 to 18 April 2024, the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty will hold a training for artisans from Kazakhstan who want to improve their knowledge and gain inspiration in the field of ethnodesign.

The training will take place in Almaty as part of the European Union-funded project 鈥淪ilk Road Heritage Corridors in Central Asia - International Aspects of the European Year of Cultural Heritage鈥, launched by the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty.

A three-day training on ethnodesign will be conducted by leading experts in handicrafts in the field of culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

During the training, participants will gain knowledge in the areas of marketing, analysis of trends and market demands, brand and/or collection development, pricing, legislation related to registration and taxation, copyright, as well as several practical examples from experienced artisans and much more.

The project 鈥淪ilk Road Heritage Corridors in Central Asia鈥, within the framework of which the training will be carried out, was launched in 2018 and aims to strengthen the contribution of culture to sustainable development, in particular through the development of heritage tourism, diversification of tourism products, as well as providing high quality services and a positive tourism experience to visitors.

The main activities of the project are the rehabilitation of heritage sites along the Silk Road, a traveling exhibition of shared heritage along the Silk Road, tourism based on cultural heritage, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage along the Silk Road.

 

Training dates: from April 16 to April 18, 2024.

Venue: Almaty city.

Languages: Kazakh and Russian.
