UNESCO’s Information for All Programme launches the inaugural conference on Ethics of AI

The event will bring together stakeholders from various sectors to foster discussions on the main opportunities and challenges in the implementation of the Recommendation towards Ethical Artificial Intelligence.
Adopted at UNESCO's 41st session of the General Conference, the is the first global standard-setting instrument, to ensure that digital transformation and innovation promote human rights and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
It aligns with UNESCO’s mandate to foster the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other new technologies within the digital ecosystem through endorsed by UNESCO in November 2015. Since then, UNESCO advocates for the ROAM principles of Rights, Openness, Accessibility and Multi-stakeholder participation framework to support stakeholders in shaping the design, application, and governance of AI.
Within the framework of UNESCO’s IFAP, the will support the circulation of the Recommendation, ensuring that each region and sub-region understands and applies the principles and courses of action contained therein.
This conference will be the starting point of the entire project, aiming to provide all Member States an opportunity to engage with IFAP for building inclusive knowledge societies.
