World Radio Day 2018 in Sudan

 

On 13 February 2018, the UNESCO Khartoum Office together with the Sudanese TV and Radio Corporation and National Commission for Education, Science and Culture organized the commemoration of the World Radio Day in Khartoum, in the Al-Azhari Studio of the Sudanese National Radio, Omdurman. About hundred media professionals enjoyed the event, its speeches and music. The celebration was live-broadcasted by the National Radio.

 

On the same day, in Gedaref, the Eastern Sudan Women-Journalists Initiative together with the state’s Ministry of Information, Culture and Youth, and Women Department of the Sudanese Journalist Union contributed to the World Radio Day 2018, organizing an event at the Gedaref’s Radio premises, where about 30 participants enjoyed speeches and music. The event in Gedaref was honored by the Gedaref’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Youth, Mr. Bashir Hamad, General Director of the Gedaref’s Ministry of of Information, Culture, and Youth, Mr. Emad Aldain Ahmed, General Director of Radio and Television Corporation in Gedaref, Mr. Atif Bashir Abdelrahman, Director of Gedaref’s Television, Mr. Hatim Suleiman, Director Gedaref’s Radio, Mr. Abdelmagid Mohammed Alsaid, Chair of the Media Committee in the Gedaref’s Legislative Council, Mr. Albadri Ibrahim Abdallah, and other distinguished media professionals. The celebration was reflected in Gedaref’s TV and Radio broadcasts, and several newspapers.

On 19 February 2018, the World Radio Day commemoration took place in Port Sudan together with the organized in frameworks of the UNESCO-Italy project on Strengthening Rural Radio Broadcasting in the Eastern Sudan.
