Description: In 2025, Ukraine鈥檚 national celebration of World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) will focus on the dual role of media in the country鈥檚 recovery from the Russian full-scale invasion. On one hand, the media sector has itself suffered deeply, from attacks on infrastructure and journalists to the collapse of advertising markets and the displacement of media professionals. On the other hand, media plays a vital role as an oversight mechanism, helping to ensure that reconstruction is transparent, inclusive, and democratic. As part of the event, Lviv Media Forum will present findings from joint LMF/UNESCO research on the damages, losses, and recovery needs of Ukraine鈥檚 media sector, which were also included in RDNA4.
