Description of Promoted Action
The Action includes training on gender, water and Indigenous peoples in coordination with Victor Mux from the San Carlos Academy of Guatemala (USAC) and with Angela Tepaz, Coordinator of the Governmental Gender Commission of Ecuador, aimed at representatives of government institutions, local governments, Municipal Water and Sanitation Offices, Municipal Women鈥檚 Directorates and indigenous authorities.
A survey was conducted on training needs in water and sanitation aimed at women leaders and local governments. The preliminary results are being analyzed in coordination with the USAC Academy.
As Seprem, we are supporting the development of a Departmental Water Sanitation and Hygiene Policy in Quich茅, Guatemala, linking gender as a cross-cutting issue and taking into account the UNESCO WWAP toolkit for collecting sex-disaggregated water data. As a member country of the Coalition, we are called to Action.
Regarding the Departmental Water and Sanitation Policy, Water for People is supporting us with part of the financing for elaborating the Policy.
Geopgraphic area, Thematics and Game-changer
This Action is being implemented in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on Guatemala and Ecuador.
It is part of the Multi-stakeholder Coalition鈥檚 Working Group on Local Organizations and Territories and is intended to apply the Coalition鈥檚 Game-changer 3: Fostering women鈥檚 leadership for meaningful participation through education and capacity development.
