Promoting Artistic Freedom and Creativity
Creativity is a vehicle of identity, values and meaning.
Cultural diversity is a defining characteristic of humanity and is fuelled by creativity. UNESCO supports countries to put in place policies that optimize the contribution of cultural industries to economic and social development.
UNESCO Bangkok encourages countries to ratify and implement the 2005 Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. We play a convening role in bringing stakeholders together for dialogue and advocacy. An ongoing project in Lao PDR seeks to establish a platform, both physical and virtual, that will support art practitioners and civil society members to improve their management and entrepreneurial skills, as well as the quality of cultural goods for the domestic and international market.
