Cultural Entrepreneurship

The Transcultura programme contributes to capacity building for the development of new cultural projects, self-employment and the launch or scale-up of economic activities in the cultural and creative industries.

The UNESCO Transcultura programme supports young artists and cultural professionals from the Caribbean who wish to pursue a career related to culture and creativity; it enhances their technical and commercial knowledge and skills to build cultural enterprises.

The programme provides courses in marketing, finance, project management, marketing, exploring possible partnerships with existing initiatives and funds in the region and the European Union. In addition, young people are trained in writing and submitting project proposals and grant applications. Technical assistance and guidance are also provided to assist beneficiaries in applying for the different international funding mechanisms.

The expected results are new cultural projects, self-employment and the start-up or expansion of economic activities associated with the cultural and creative industries.
