2025 Latin America Report
The Latin American regional edition of the 2024/5 GEM Report on leadership and education: , produced in partnership with the was presented last week in Bogotá at a with eight ministers and deputy ministers of education from the region under the auspices of the Ministry of National Education of Colombia. The regional edition focuses on distributed leadership in schools, an active form of civic education through which school principals leverage the collective experience of the school community to establish and achieve shared goals.
The regional edition drew on from six countries – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Honduras – and on a survey of 17 ministries of education in the region carried out by the OEI, which looked at the ways in which they incorporate aspects of distributed leadership in schools, decision-making processes, evaluation and accountability mechanisms. It also drew upon the on national policies, norms and regulations covering working conditions, selection processes, and training programmes for school leaders.
